Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive technique (performed through small incisions) that we use to diagnose and treat sports injuries involving the menisci, ligaments, or cartilage, aiming to preserve the natural joint. On the other hand, joint replacement (arthroplasty) is a major reconstructive surgery where we replace damaged surfaces with high-tech prosthetic components, generally in cases of advanced wear and tear or osteoarthritis, in order to eliminate pain and restore mobility.
My practice is based on scientific rigor and biosafety. I perform my procedures at tertiary care institutions such as the University Hospital of Santander (HUS) and through a strategic alliance with the International Hospital of Colombia (HIC). These centers meet the most demanding national and international standards, guaranteeing a safe and controlled surgical environment for highly complex surgeries.
Through my commitment to thoroughness, I conduct a comprehensive clinical and radiological evaluation in my CIE practice. Preservation techniques are primarily indicated in patients with focal lesions or early wear where it is still possible to salvage the original anatomy. My goal is always to exhaust the least invasive options before considering total replacement.
Revision surgery is a reoperation performed when a previous hip or knee replacement presents complications, component wear, or instability. It requires a high level of academic and technical expertise, as well as specialized training in reconstructive surgery, such as that which I received at the Central Military Hospital. It is an area where detailed planning is vital for the success of the case.
I see my private and insurance patients at my PRIVATE PRACTICE located in the International Center of Specialists (CIE), office 712 north (Km 7 Piedecuesta highway). It is a space designed to offer personalized, comfortable care focused on the best results, while complying with all current biosafety standards.
I am a physician from UNAB, a specialist from UIS, and a subspecialist from the Nueva Granada Military University. Furthermore, I am a full member of the two most important scientific societies in the country in my field: the Colombian Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (SCCOT) and the Colombian Hip and Knee Society (SOCCAR).
